2021 Seattle Marathon

Updated: Nov 29, 2021

Dr. Veronica Neumann and Dr. Aimee Kisaichi from NCIC/SNCC volunteered at the Seattle Marathon that took place on November 28, 2021. This was the fifteenth-year our doctors have participated.

This year was particularly remarkable because of Covid and there was a new race course and treatment environment. The new course allowed for proper COVID-19 protocols where runners could spread out. All vendors and services were located outside this year, and doctors were stationed in the tents near the finish line at Gas Works Park.

Volunteers physicians included Dr. Veronica Neumann, Dr. Aimee Kisaichi, Dr. Tom Yang, and Bastyr student volunteer, Xavier Aponte. Volunteers utilized Kinesio Taping, acupuncture/dry needling, soft tissue release, muscle energy stretching, spinal manipulation, and more.

This was Dr. Veronica Neumann’s fifth year volunteering at the marathon. She stated, “It was impressive to see so much adaptability at the marathon- from runners, staff, and volunteers. The weather was windy, cold, and rainy, but that didn’t stop people from pushing forward.”

It was also Dr. Aimee Kisaichi’s fifth year volunteering at the marathon. She commented, “After a year hiatus, it was great to see so many athletes show up to the event.”

Special thank you to the Seattle Marathon for coordinating the event and inviting us back. Also, a big thank you to Kinesio Taping International for the Kinesio Tape donation. We look forward to next year!
